Cats

Chester: Vancouver Downtown Eastside

Chester: Vancouver Downtown Eastside

Some animals exude confidence.

Chester is a ‘cool’ cat. Not much phases him. He is very interested in people. Chester doesn’t hiss, Chester doesn’t scratch, Chester doesn’t bite. I like Chester.

People adopt dogs. The bonding happens during the walk. Dogs will bond with the person because of the shared experience of going for the hunt walk.

Foxy: Vancouver Downtown Eastside, BC

Foxy: Vancouver Downtown Eastside, BC

Foxy, the kitten, was recently found in an alley way. Foxy was corned by kids who were taunting her, when she was rescued by Helen. Helen chased the kids away and took Foxy to her place. That was a week ago.

Foxy, the kitten, is both afraid and curious. She likes to see everything but she’s not advanturous. Foxy will be a very good indoor cat.

Sheena the cat: Vancouver, Downtown Eastside, BC

Sheena the cat: Vancouver, Downtown Eastside, BC

Sheena is an indoor cat who hasn’t been socialized and cannot survive outside. But her previous owner abandoned her in an alley on the Vancouver Downtown Eastside.

Sheena doesn’t know how to find food or drink… She was close to starvation and dehydration when somebody found her behind the garbage dumpsters. It took quite a few days to get her back to almost what a normal cat should be…

Tabby: Vancouver Downtown Eastside

Tabby: Vancouver Downtown Eastside

Many cats, especially when they are scared, like being on people’s shoulders. They feel safe because they are higher and protected by the person.

Actually, I use that position regularly with cats that “refuse to cooperate”. They don’t have the choice, they have to cooperate, they always will check what’s happening around and that’s when I “get” my photos…

Waiting To Go Back Home

Waiting To Go Back Home

This cat wanted to come back into the house but there was nobody. When I passed there, she was already waiting and when I came back about 45 minutes later she was still waiting.

Since the photo was taken just before 6pm, I guess that she must have been waiting for her meal.

Daisy in her Cube

Daisy in her Cube

Daisy is an older cat. Her owner, also an older lady, had to give up Daisy because she had to move into a senior facility for health reasons and the place didn’t allow for any animal, cats or dogs…

Daisy likes her cube. She feels safe in her cube. Daisy was never an adventurous cat, even in her younger days but as she grew older she preferred the safety of the cocooning.

Mittens: vancouver, BC

Mittens: vancouver, BC

Mittens is an old tabby. She’s already 14 years old. Mittens has a spotted history, she was adopted and abandoned a few times. It was tracked through her ear tattoo from her first owner.

Now Mittens is spending most of her days on her blanket.

Another Drug Addict Hooked on Catnip

Another Drug Addict Hooked on Catnip

Almost all cats can easily get hooked on catnip. Here’s “another one bite the dust!”

Cats can’t help themselves. The vast majority of the cats can’t resist catnip. It’s not just cats but also leopards and cougars. They break the catnip, they eat the catnip, they sniff the catnip and finally roll themselves in the catnip.

Georgie Lives In His Cube

Georgie Lives In His Cube

Georgie is an old cat and he pretty much lives in “his” cube. It’s more of a sphere than a cube, but the bottom is totally flat.

It’s been a couple of years that he lives in this cube. He only gets out for the “intake of food” and for the outtake. He likes to hide in his cube. He’s not really hiding, since he doesn’t hide his head, but his head stays in the cube.

A Very Uncooperative Cat: Vancouver, BC

A Very Uncooperative Cat: Vancouver, BC

Puss-Puss is a very uncooperative cat. He doesn’t want to have his photo taken. Never. It’s not that he has a bad day here and there. With Puss-Puss, everyday is a bad day when there’s a camera involved. Normally, I make my “Daffy Duck” imitation. Cats and dogs are always surprised and look to see what’s that sound.

No!… Not Puss-Puss. He was “pissed-off”. I tried my couple of toys including a good squeaker toy and even my harmonica. Nothing, zippa, nada.
