The Quietest Trombone You’ll Ever Meet

“Very, very quiet,” she said, mimicking Elmer Fudd when he’s chasing Bugs Bunny in the Loony Tunes. And honestly, after watching Trombone, the Corgi, I understood.

Trombone never barks. Sometimes a little whimper especially when get his biscuit. But mostly? Silence. His owner, Sarah, plays the trombone. Sometimes, when he’s stretching or yawning, he makes noises that almost sound like a trombone.

Because of their look, Corgi are supposed to be happy dogs. Their job is to round-up… They need to round-up the cattle and the sheeps by barking and biting their ankles. Trombone doesn’t fit the expectations but he’s a fantastic dog.

I remember photographing Buster, a grumpy old Jack Russell, a few years ago. He wouldn’t sit. He wouldn’t stay. He wouldn’t even look at the camera. He was on patrol. He was patrolling the garden. But when I reviewed the photos, it was the photos of him going from spot to spot, where you could feel his determination, that were the most compelling. These photos were him.

Most often people are drawn to photographs that resonate with their own experience of their dog. You see a photo and think, “Yes, that’s my dog.” It’s more than just a pretty picture. It’s a reminder of all the joy, companionship, and unconditional love they bring into your life.

Sarah was telling me how much she cherishes the images from our session. She’d always wanted a large print of Trombone in her living room, to remind her of his gentle nature, even on days when she’s feeling stressed. “It’s lovely to have him looking back at me,” she said. “He’s always there, quietly observing, offering comfort.”

And that’s the magic of a good dog photograph. It’s a piece of your heart, beautifully framed. Why not celebrate it with a beautiful, large-format print? I’d be honoured to help you create a lasting memory of your beloved dog. Get in touch https://www.sritch.com/contact.
