Wiener Dogs vs. Sausages: The Dachshund Dilemma
Here’s another jogging ‘sausage’, aka a Dachshund. Most people call them ‘wiener dogs’, but I always call them sausages.

It started years ago when I met this older lady in Victoria. Her ‘sausage’ always wore a plastic sausage bun around her body. It was held with a strap between the two halves of the plastic sausage bun. The strap side on top of her spine looked like yellow mustard. Darlee, the ‘sausage’, was always afraid of everything, even flies!, except when she wore her costume. That sausage costume was always a great conversation starter. That was until she slipped a disk in her spine when she jumped from the bed onto the floor…
I’ve always had a soft spot for ‘sausages’. I almost adopted one of those ‘wiener dogs’ from the SPCA that was seized from a puppy farm. I could deal with her psychological problems, but she had some surgery that might not have gone well. This was much more than I could handle. BTW, many of these ‘sausages’ are very noisy. They bark! And they bark a lot, but Darlee was a very quiet sausage.
Talking about being brave, guess who’s leading this run on the Vancouver Seawall? Notice that it’s a run, not a jog. Also, look at the leash, it speaks volumes. There is no tension, the leash is loose, and this shows a lot of practice.
I couldn’t ask for the sausage’s name as the owner was running.
I always try to capture the ‘real moments’ like this one. If you want photos of these kinds of moments, book a session and let their personality truly shine https://www.sritch.com/contact/.
