Frenchie v. Frisbee
We’ve all seen these Border Collies jump and catch Frisbees in mid-air at the Disc Dog/Frisbee Dog competitions. There, both the owners and their dogs do impressive jumps and tricks. Then there’s Max. Here’s Max, Max is not the short version of Maxim but it is for the abbreviated version of Maximilian.

Max likes running after the Frisbee, he just refuses to catch the Frisbee. He runs, then slows down until the Frisbee lands on the ground, then waits. He stops for the Frisbee to stop. Only then, Max the French Bulldog, will pick up the Frisbee and return to Andrew, his owner. Max runs back to Andrew, not too fast, not too slow either. Max did that the whole time I was at the dog park with my own dog.
French Bulldogs are neither elegant nor dainty dogs. There are not agile either, so you never see them at agility competitions either. Is it because in agility competitions they also need to jump and jumping injures their fragile backs and spines?
French Bulldogs are well known for having vision, like almost all bulldog breeds. Yet, Max had no problem finding the Frisbee once it stopped rolling in the grass.
