The Moment a Dog Sees You

It’s quite rare to have dog’s direct gaze. He wasn’t just looking at me, it was “What do you want?”

She walked right up to me. Not to sniff my dog – who was busy sniffing around but to me. She completely ignored my dog and was totally focused on me. Me, as usual, I was kneeling, to be at her level. Dogs are the most observant animal, much better than humans. They read our body language, they pick up on any subtle move, almost like a psychic. I wonder what she was gazing at. The camera? My unusual posture – my knee on the ground? Or may be it was simple curiosity.

Her owner was almost at the other end of the park, on a very loud phone call that I could listen to. She was oblivious to anything except her very loud phone call. Then I realized that the dog wasn’t wearing a collar, nor a leash.

Why dogs? Why are they so important to me? Dogs allow me to present to be in the now and not being caught up in my own thoughts, my own worries.

I capture these moments, these connections, because they feel important. They feel… real. A photograph isn’t just a pretty picture. To me they are more, they are memories of shared experiences. It’s a way to hold onto those moments. Imagine having that feeling preserved, the look, enlarged and hanging on your wall, a daily reminder of the simple joys in life. Why not celebrate it with a beautiful, large-format print? I’d be honoured to help you create a lasting memory of your beloved dog. Get in touch: https://www.sritch.com/contact.
