Attitude vs Size
Often, I get asked: which dog breed is the best? To me, it’s not about the breed but about the spirit of the dog. I’ve never owned a dog from a recognizable breed. All my dogs, the three of them, have been mutts of unknown origin but somehow all of them have been male and all of them have been “chickens.” I didn’t choose my dogs that way, it just happened. That’s what I was given and I took them…
On the other hand, this chihuahua has spunk:
- I was kneeling on the ground to be at his level.
- I was about 6 to 7 feet away, that’s about 2 meters from him.
- I had the camera at his eye level with a big lens straight looking at him.
Let’s examine the situation:
- Is he afraid? No. He’s analyzing the situation.
- What should he do? I’m sure that running away is not in his thought process.
- I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s actually evaluating me, to know if he’s above me or below me on the “totem pole?”
One thing for sure is that this chihuahua has presence, he’s not a dog that you ignore, he’ll make sure of that and he’ll stand his ground.
When I look at this photograph, I see:

and he’s demanding the respect that he thinks he’s owed.
