Carrying a 600mm f/4 Lens

These Canon 600mm lenses, not only are expensive (an arm, a leg, and the next 2 generations of kids) but they are heavy. The lens, the camera, the tripod, the bag… we are talking about 35lbs/15kg.

I don’t like photographers, like this guy, that walk around with their tripod wide open. Everybody’s supposed to get out of their way. When the path is narrow, the bushes… and I’m supposed to get out of their way.

The other problem is that when the tripod legs are open, they often catch something in the bushes…
