Lightroom: Crop Orientation
category: Lightroom • 1 min read
I took this photo of Walter, a French Bulldog at the beach. But I took the photo horizontally. It would look much better if the photo was portrait/vertical. Now in Lightroom, can I can do it manually, changing the sides and maximizing the top and the bottom of the photo, or I can can let Lightroom do all that work for me.
In Lightroom:
- Switch to the develop module
C
for the crop tool.X
to switch the orientation of the crop from horizontal to vertical
- The nice thing about using the
X
to switch the orientation of the crop of the photo, instead of doing it manually, is that you can keep the ratios locked. - The other nice thing of using the
X
to switch the orientation of the crop of the photo is that it’s only one step in the history.
