A Very Patient Dog: Vancouver, BC
I regularly walk along the Vancouver Seawall with my dog. I don’t live too far and it’s a downhill walk to go the Vancouver Seawall. I almost always have my camera with me, just in case… Like on that early spring day, it was nippy.
During the walk I noticed this guy with his Canucks sweatshirt and shorts (I don’t know how the guy did it but I was cold). First I heard the guy, he was loud. I’m not sure that this guy understood the concept of the cell phones and he was very loud in the hope that being loud enough then the other person will hear him. Then I noticed the German Shepard, staying there standing up at attention, the leash was tight between the guy and his dog. This was a magnificent black German Shepherd, standing perfectly still. I took their first photo and kept on walking.
A few minutes later, I and my dog decided that it was time to start to walk back home. And sure enough, the guy, with his black German Shepard, was still there, still very loud while talking on his cell phone and his German Shepard still waiting. I don’t think that the dog moved at all, it could have been a statue.
11 minutes between passing him one way and the other way and they didn’t move. The most surprising is that usually when dogs have to wait for a while, they will switch from standing to sitting and eventually lay down while waiting. Not this dog! My guess, and it’s only a guess since I didn’t speak with this guy, is that the dog must have done either some military or police training.
How do I know that it was 11 minutes? It was 11 minutes between the two photos according to the timestamp.
