Still Having Fun on 3 Legs

Pip or Peep (I should have asked how Pip/Peep is spelled) is a Border Collie and he only has 3 legs.

He plays, he runs after the ball and sometimes, he even catches the ball. He runs and plays with other dogs.

Pip had cancer on his front left leg. The cancer “didn’t respond to treatment”. The only option left was to amputate the left front leg to prevent the spread. His owners debated it for a few days and decided to go ahead with the amputation. It’s took Pip’s owners longer to recover from the amputation than Pip. Within a couple of days, Pip was running around.

Now, every six month, Pip goes to the vet for a check-up to see if there is a re-occurrence of the cancer.

Why do dogs have cancer? They don’t live long. Pip was only 4 years old when he was first diagnosed with cancer. A friend of mine’s Golden Retriever just died also from cancer, Bindi was only 8 years old.

Info

A December 2024 update: Pip has cancer, again. But this time, his owners decided not to have any further treatment.
