Rubber Shoe: Vancouver, BC

This Jack Russell was carrying what looked like a small rubber shoe. She wouldn’t put it down, just carried it all the time. I was at least 30 minutes at the park and not once did I see her drop the rubber shoe.

Originally, the Jack Russells were created for fox hunting and since by the end of the 19th century fox hunting had almost disappeared, the Jack Russells were ‘converted’ to digging and chasing after rats.

The Jack Russells were originally bred in the early 19th century by the Reverent John Russell! So where did the Jack came from? Jack was the Reverent John Russell who called himself Jack Russell because his father was already named John Russell.
