Husky vs Reflector

I was walking with my dog along the sea walk in Vancouver, and there it was: what looked like a Husky with this huge red reflector on his leash. This means that he has this huge reflector in his face for every walk.

Many people, including me, use reflectors on their dogs at night. Up to now, dogs have had reflectors: little strips on collars or harnesses, and lately some LEDs worn their the necks. But this… this was a statement. It was as if the owner said, “Right, if you can’t see my dog, you’re not looking!” But I’ve never seen a reflector that big for dogs.

Now for the back‑story. This photo was taken at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon. This means that this “poor dog” has to put up with this reflector around his neck all the time. In fact, he didn’t seem to mind it, or more likely he had learned to put up with it. First I commented on it, then asked the owner where she had gotten it. She had gone to a hardware store and bought a reflector for flagging the entrance of her garage.

If you’ve got a furry friend who brings joy to your life, I’d love to hear about them! Share a photo or their story. And if you’re looking for a way to capture their unique personality, why not consider a relaxed photoshoot? Let’s create beautiful memories together https://www.sritch.com/contact/.
