Tu Quoque, Mi Fili
Brutus is a Dogue de Bordeaux. He’s huge, he’s around 140lbs. Nothing really scares him. I saw him stare at people and people move away, except me but still, I didn’t go and pet him. Right now, he’s staring at me kneeling on the ground while I take his photo. My dog is with me standing at my side but slightly behind me. Brutus is ignoring my dog and concentrating on my taking his photo.
His owner is a lady and to me she looks like she’s in her thirties. She said that, now with Brutus, nobody bothers her when she goes on her walks, especially at night (except for people like me and we talk dogs)!
But look at his nose, it’s all dried up and it hurts. Brutus gets cream daily on his nose to help but it’s not very successful.
Upon reflection, I’m wondering if the name Brutus is from Julius Cesar’s assassin or from Popeye’s rival Bluto/Brutus…
“Tu Quoque, Mi Fili” is translated from Latin as “You Too, My Son”. This is what Julius Cesar is supposed to have said to his son Brutus when he was assassinated by a group of consiprators that included his son.
