Boston Terrier v. Frisbee

Who’s bigger, the Boston Terrier (Tee) or the Frisbee? Tee doesn’t even try to catch the Frisbee. His owner, Marc (French spelling), throws the Frisbee, then he runs after it. Tee lets it fall on the ground, picks it up, runs back with the Frisbee, and finally drops it at Marc’s feet for the next round…

Look at the Kong Frisbee. Look how faded and worn the Kong Frisbee is, but it works, it’s not torn, no hole and it’s very heavily used.

It turns out that Frisbee is a trademarked name from Wham-O. Nobody else is allowed to use the name Frisbee. All the toy companies making Frisbees for dogs call them “Flying Discs”. There are two important things:

1. The quality of the rubber. The heavier rubber, the better the flying of the Frisbee, the straighter and the longer the flight path. The heavier the rubber, the better the Frisbee will withstand the sharp teeth… The heavier rubber could be too heavy for mid-size and smaller dogs. The harder rubber fly further but a more difficult to pickup and carry. The more rubbery rubber Frisbees are easier to pickup and carry.
2. The design of the edges. The dog has to be able to pickup the Frisbee. A round curve is easier to grab and carry than a flat surface, especially when you have to carry it in your mouth.
