Dog proud of himself after digging a hole
I have no idea what happened here. S/he’s been sitting there in the pit.
Did s/he dig the hole or was it already there? S/he just sat in the hole for a good 10 minutes like s/he’s proud of it. His/her owner was with a group at the other end of the park.
Most dogs dig because they are bored and have nothing else to do and it’s entertaining. A few dogs will dig for burying things like bones or toys (the problem is that almost never recall where they bury their treasure and there’s no map…) For many dogs, digging is the same as kids digging in the sandbox.
Usually making the dogs run until they are tired will stop their digging.
