The Cone of Shame: Vancouver, BC

I don’t know where the expression came ‘cone of shame’ from.

This Doberman just had some sutures. She wears an unusual cone that she received at the vet. Normally, the cones are lighter, white and translucent.

Instead of calling them cone of shame, I call them satellite dishes. That’s because, years ago I saw this ad where a guy would spend hours trying to adjust his satellite dish and finally got it right when he hit the electrical line.

Nowadays, instead of cones, many people are using thick padded airplane neck pillows, so the dog can turn their heads and not hit anything while not scratching nor reaching the wound/sutures.
