Black Dog Running: Vancouver, BC
Here’s a dog having a great time running around the park.
This is a BBD, an acronym for Big Black Dog. The problem with BBDs is that very few people want to adopt them, even as puppies.
In Southern and Eastern Europe, there are superstitions about vampires and black dogs. The other main superstition is that Big Black Dogs bring bad luck and Big Black Dogs are somehow related to death…
Conan Doyle even made an extremely successful Sherlock Holmes book in 1902: The Hound of the Baskervilles (with an S: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hound_of_the_Baskervilles). That’s the story of a Big Black Dog that kills people at night… I like the Sherlock Holmes stories, but I’ve never like that one (I wonder why?).
