The Rise of the Fake 'Beware of the Dog'
Lately, I have noticed a lot of “Beware of the Dog” signs. Almost every house in the neighbourhood has one.
I walk the neighbourhood every day, four times a day and I bring my dog along the walks. I’m not sure that if it’s me or my dog that needs his walks so I have to go. After doing these four walks per day for a few years, I know every single dog in the neighbourhood. I know all the dogs that we get along with. I also know all the dogs we do not get along with. I also know where all the dogs live. I don’t know the people’s names, but I know their dog’s names.

So back to these “Beware of the Dog” signs. There are blocks with every house have the same sign (from the dollar store) but there is no dog that lives on the block. People put these signs in the hope that the thieves will see the sign and go the next house. But the next house also has exactly the same sign and the next house…
I know that these signs do not work because I’ve seen the RCMPs, the Canadian police, coming after a break-in to investigate and to try to get fingerprints and photos at two of these houses with the sign “Beware of the Dog”.
Now, if these people had “real dogs” like a Doberman, a Great Dane or a Malinois, it woild have been very unlikely that these houses would have been burglarized.
And last year, in the news, they said that the cops arrested some thieves that would break in houses with their own Rottweiler. BTW, the cops found and arrested the thieves by tracking the Rottweiler.
If you’ve got a furry friend who brings joy to your life, I’d love to hear about them! Share a photo or their story. And if you’re looking for a way to capture their unique personality, why not consider a relaxed photoshoot? Let’s create beautiful memories together https://www.sritch.com/contact/.
