Want to Look: Vancouver, BC

He wanted to see. His owner wanted to move. His owner was pulling on the leash but he wanted to see. He wasn’t looking at my dog, he was looking at me/camera. He was so curious, he staid for what felt like a couple of minutes then he went with his owner and moved on.

Release the Hounds: West Vancouver, BC

These four Huskies are at the back of a station wagon. They are anxious to be get going and play at the beach, but they have to wait and wait… One tried to move and the dog walker made them all wait.

This guy is a professional dog walker. Are these huskies his dogs? I don’t know, he was too busy and I didn’t want all these huskies to come and ‘swarm’ my own dog to sniff him.

Having Fun: Vancouver, BC

Milo, a chocolate Labrador, is having fun running with his prey ball, after killing it.

I didn’t know, but Labs, the Labradors, are Canadian dogs from Newfoundland & Labrador fame. It was bred to help Canadian fishermen with nets, fetching ropes, and retrieving fish.

Dodoïte: The Corgi Crazed Look

Dodoïte: The Corgi Crazed Look

Years ago, I decided not make people look bad in their photos. This photo is different:

  • This is my dog. My dog’s name is Dodoïte (pronounced: Dodo ïte). He’s a half Basset Hound, half Australian Shepherd, and half Corgi. His history is fairly sketchy and it has changed over time since we got him.
Snootsy — The Flying Sausage

Snootsy — The Flying Sausage

Snootsy is a 15 years old Dachshund, aka a ‘sausage’. He’s 15 years old and he still runs.

15 years old would be the equivalent of 105 years old for us, humans. Will I be able to run down the street at 105?

Boston Terrier v. Frisbee

Boston Terrier v. Frisbee

Who’s bigger, the Boston Terrier (Tee) or the Frisbee? Tee doesn’t even try to catch the Frisbee. His owner, Marc (French spelling), throws the Frisbee, then he runs after it. Tee lets it fall on the ground, picks it up, runs back with the Frisbee, and finally drops it at Marc’s feet for the next round…

Look at the Kong Frisbee. Look how faded and worn the Kong Frisbee is, but it works, it’s not torn, no hole and it’s very heavily used.

Another Happy Bulldog: Vancouver, BC

Most bulldogs look like happy dogs. Is it the pause, because of the stocky build, they look so proud. Look at all these extra wrinkles and then…

There’s the huge mouth that curves up that makes it look like a smile with the tongue that’s sticking out. They use their tongue to cool themselves down.

Waiting for the Rain: Vancouver, BC

Waiting for the Rain: Vancouver, BC

Vancouver is on the edge of the Pacific, and the home of what’s left of last tempered rain forest in North America.

And the keyword is: Rain. We get the rain from the mountains and from the North. We get the rain from the Pacific, eight thousand kilometers to pickup moisture and then it falls on us because of the mountains. And then we also get the Pineapple Express which is warm rain from Hawaii… And since the climate change, the Pineapple Express has been replaced by ‘Atmospheric River’ which is far more ignominious.

Great Dogs at Agility Races

Great Dogs at Agility Races

In agility competition, the dogs run in various categories, mostly according the weight/size of the dog and they raise the size of the obstacles according to the dog’s category.

The fastest dogs where the Border Collies and the Pitbulls. They are always the fastest. They get the speed because they are not too big or too small and they have the agility to make quick turns.
